Review Policy

As of January 2012, due to my work schedule and geographical limitations, I am currently only accepting a limited number of books for review, and mostly from authors and publicists with whom I've worked previously. I will consider the following types of books for review:
  • YA/MG realistic fiction
  • YA/adult/MG speculative fiction, in particular high fantasy
  • YA/MG historical fantasy
  • Urban fantasy
  • Books in the aforementioned genres featuring POC (people of color)
I am unable to accept self-published books or books in the following genres:
  • Adult thriller/mystery/horror
  • Adult nonfiction
  • Memoirs
  • Politics
  • Religion
  • Self-help
  • Business/Finance
  • Poetry
I prefer e-galleys: my primary e-reader device is the Amazon Kindle, but I am also able to accept .EPUB editions for my Nook Color if I am interested enough in the title. I also accept hard copies, which can be mailed to my US mailing address. As I am not currently located in the US, my access to hard copies of galleys is limited to several times a year, and thus if you send me a physical galley for review, I ask that you please be patient and allow me time to acquire it and review it.

Unfortunately, I cannot respond to each review request sent to me. If you do not hear back from me within a week of sending your email, you can most likely assume that I am unable to accept your book for review. I will try to respond within 30 days to each personalized review request if it falls within the aforementioned genres that I will consider for review; I cannot guarantee a reply for mass emails or books in genres that I do not review.

If I accept your review pitch, please understand that I cannot guarantee that I will be able to finish and/or review your book. I prefer to read a book when I am in the mood to read it, and sometimes I will realize that your book and I are not the best match. I also cannot guarantee that I will be able to post a review for your book around its due date unless specifically requested or for a blog tour.

My accepting a book for review does not mean that I will automatically give it a good rating. I write reviews that honestly reflect my feelings and thoughts toward a book. If you're looking only for good ratings, you've come to the wrong place.

Besides for my blog, I also post my reviews on Goodreads, LibraryThing, and, on occasion, Amazon.

Books that I have finished reviewing but do not intend to keep on my permanent shelf will likely be swapped; donated to the local public library or another similar organization; or given away on my blog.

Interviews, Giveaways, Etc.

Unless it is part of a blog tour or something organized by an outside party, I prefer to consider doing an interview, guest post, or giveaway only AFTER I have read and reviewed your book. As this is my blog and represents my opinions and mine alone, I reserve the right to choose which books, authors, and publishers I will support via interviews and giveaways. It is against my integrity as a blogger, writer, reviewer, and human being if I let myself to do false advertising, and so I hope you can respect my decision if I choose not to participate in something.

On the other hand, if you saw elsewhere that I've read and enjoy your book(s), feel free to contact me regarding a possible interview or guest post! I am happy to support and promote authors of books I enjoyed reading, although I currently do not have the time to reach out to you on my own. Thank you for your understanding.
