Some awesome books on there! Loved Shade's Children, totally creepy, it's the reason I can't read a lot of YA scifi - I want them to be as good! Hero, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Feed, ahhhh. Going crazy. You're gonna love them.
ReplyDeleteI've read The Handmaid's Tale (you'll like it if you enjoy dystopian lit) and Al Capone Does My Shirts. I think it's middle grade but it's still an awesome book. Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteYou picked such great books! Crank was just hypnotic--I couldn't get it out of my head. Feed actually frightened me, considering the parallels to the world right now. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian is heartbreaking and hilarious. Lolita had the most beautiful language and Humbert Humbert is a potent combination of charm and charisma.

ReplyDeleteSeriously! It's so ridiculous it makes me laugh. I don't know how anyone can take the ban seriously (but that's why I stay in multicultural, major metropolitans)

ReplyDeleteI've only read two of those. The Amber Spyglass is very good. I read Flowers for Algernon in seventh grade, but I remember liking it well enough. I don't understand why it's challenged.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great list! I read The Handmaid's Tale the summer I graduated from college -- it is excellent. And my son loves Diary of a Wimpy Kid. (I had no idea it had been banned or challenged. Seems pretty innocuous to me. Huh.)
