  6. 'Finnikin of the Rock' is a MOST special read. One of my top YA reads for 2009. Part of its genesis is from being an exile-immigrant and loss of land, language and culture; and another part from her seeing the brutality of the Bosnian war. Heartrending moments in the book and I cried. I loved the relationship between the two main characters. A most highly recommended read.
